Transition Planning PDF Print E-mail
Transition Planning: At yearly goal reviews, transition plans are discussed with the degree of delay as a main point of consideration. Transition plans involve fading out 1:1 ABA services and promoting independent functioning across environments. A successful transition is ensured by recording data across environments before, during and after the point of transition to ensure that no regression has occurred. It is the responsibility of the individuals in the post transition environment to continue to collect data for an agreed upon period of time as designated in the child’s IEP after 1:1 ABA support has been faded. According to the BACB Conduct guidelines, a behavior analyst has a responsibility to operate in the best interest of clients and does not abandon clients. If the child demonstrates regression, MRC will provide training and support to the provider based on parent and provider consent in the targeted environment and repeat the transition process. Prior to termination (transition) for whatever reason, except where precluded by the client's conduct, the behavior analyst discusses the client's views and needs, provides appropriate pre-termination services, suggests alternative service providers as appropriate, and takes other reasonable steps to facilitate transfer of responsibility to another provider if the client needs one immediately (BACB Conduct Guidelines). Final reports are provided for all children leaving the program and are provided to the parents.
